The first of two exits for the city of Clarkston lies one mile ahead with Church Street. Church Street parallels both the CSX Railroad and Ponce de Leon Avenue northeast from Scottdale. 09/22/22
U.S. 78 separates from Ponce de Leon Avenue to bypass Decatur northward ahead of the Stone Mountain Freeway (SR 410). The US route meets I-285 a half mile north of Clark Street at Exits 39 B/A. 09/22/22
A split diamond interchange (Exit 40) joins Interstate 285 with Church Street from the south and Ponce de Leon Avenue from the north. The parallel two lane streets connect the beltway with the Clarkston city center. 09/22/22
The forthcoming Stone Mountain Freeway (SR 410) arcs eastward around Clarkston to Georgia Stone Mountain Park. Attractions at the park include a scenic train encircling the mountain, the Summit Skyride high-speed cable car ride, and laser light shows. 09/22/22
U.S. 78 follows the Stone Mountain Freeway east 8.5 miles east to Mountain Park, where it transitions into a commercial arterial en route to the city of Snellville. 09/22/22
Entering the directional cloverleaf interchange (Exit 39) with U.S. 78/SR 410 (Stone Mountain Freeway) on I-285 north. U.S. 78 travels 55 miles east to Athens. 09/22/22
The Stone Mountain Freeway spurs west a short distance from Exit 39 A to end at U.S. 29 (Lawrenceville Highway) by North DeKalb Mall. The Stone Mountain Freeway was once considered as an alignment for Interstate 485 west to Downtown Atlanta. Plans included a toll road extending west from the freeway end at U.S. 29 to the old Fourth Ward in Atlanta. 09/22/22
Exit 38 slips under the entrance ramp from SR 410 west well ahead of the parclo interchange with U.S. 29 (Lawrenceville Highway). U.S. 29 combines with U.S. 78 west from North Decatur to Downtown Atlanta. Northeast from I-285, U.S. 29 meanders through Tucker, Lilburn and Lawrenceville. 09/22/22
Leading north 1.25 miles from U.S. 29, Interstate 285 meets SR 236 (Lavista Road) at a commercialized diamond interchange (Exit 37). 09/22/22
Lavista Road winds southwest from a retail area anchored by Northlake Mall and Northlake Tower Festival Shopping Center to North Druid Hills. SR 236 takes the road west to Lindridge/Martin Manor in Atlanta. 09/22/22
East from Exit 37, SR 236 (Lavista Road) continues 2.3 miles to combine with U.S. 29 (Lawrenceville Highway) in the city of Tucker. 09/22/22
Overall SR 236 runs 14.69 miles from SR 237 at Lindbergh/Morosgo, Atlanta and U.S. 78/SR 10 at Stone Mountain. 07/29/11
A half diamond interchange adds traffic to Interstate 285 north from Northlake Parkway. Four lanes proceed to back to back off-ramps for both Spaghetti Junction (Exit 33) and Chamblee-Tucker Road (Exit 34). 09/22/22
Exit 33 separates from I-285 in 0.75 miles for Interstate 85. I-85 angles northeast from the Brookwood Interchange with Interstate 75 in Atlanta through the suburbs of Chamblee, Norcross, Duluth and Suwanee. 09/22/22
Chamblee Tucker Road meanders just south of Spaghetti Junction by the Embry Hills community, Presidential Drive Business Park and the Mercer University Atlanta Campus. The two lane ramp (Exit 33) for I-85 runs alongside the ramps for Exit 34 and below Chamblee Tucker Road. 09/22/22
Travelers bound for Interstate 85 north to Gainesville and Greenville, South Carolina and south to Buckhead in Atlanta depart from I-285 north. 09/22/22
A diamond interchange (Exit 34) connects the Atlanta Beltway with Chamblee Tucker Road. Exit 32 follows from within Spaghetti Junction as a c/d roadway to U.S. 23 (Buford Highway). 09/22/22
