Interstate 635 - Texas
Interstate 635 encircles the city of Dallas along the eastern and northern sides. The freeway provides a bypass of downtown and a commuter route for the many corporate headquarters and other workplaces along its corridor. Known as the Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway, Interstate 635 carries six lanes or more and is generally heavily traveled during most times of day.
Historically Interstate 635 used to provide more of a beltway of Dallas, traveling along the path of Interstate 20 from the present southern terminus west to the junction with Interstate 35E. The overlapped section of Interstate 635 with Interstate 20 was removed after Interstate 20 opened from the beltway east.

Harry Hines Boulevard heads southeast from here along the former path of U.S. 77 as U.S. 77 travels in a silent fashion with Interstate 35E through the Dallas metropolitan area. Motorists bound for Interstate 635 east are directed onto Harry Hines Boulevard south to the Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway eastbound frontage road on-ramp at Forest Lane. Photo taken 10/19/03. |

Continuing south along the Stemmons Freeway frontage road toward the Interstate 635 and 35E stack interchange. The Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway frontage roads are discontinuous at the interchange with Interstate 35E. Therefore motorists may only continue south ahead to Crown Road or west toward Luna Road.
