Oklahoma is getting new state road signs, in anticipation of the state’s centennial in 2007.
At least in Southeastern Oklahoma this month, there are not too many of the new signs put up. Idabel, Antlers, Hugo, and Durant are all still using the old circle signs. For the few I found, they were signed by road rather than by intersection or area. That means, there are lots of signposts with both old and new state road signs.
I drove into Oklahoma last March and was amazed to see new state signs!!! I think it’s a great touch for the state to have its own unique sign. There are several states that still have the old circle signs: Mississippi, Kentucky, Delaware, and New Jersey. Hopefully, these other states will follow suit.
