A supplemental guide sign along Interstate 5 north referenced the business route for Cottonwood at Bowman Road (Exit 662). With the conversion of all signage along I-5 from button copy to reflective in the early to mid-2000s, this assembly was removed. Photo by Jerry Mullady (03/99)

The unincorporated town of Cottonwood was once served by a business route from Interstate 5 between Exits 662 and 665. Business Loop I-5 followed Main Street (old U.S. 99) north from Bowman Road in northern Tehama County across Cottonwood Creek and into the Shasta County community of over 3,300. The route combined with I-5 at a wye interchange north ahead of Anderson.
