The west end of IH 244 ties into IH 44/SH 66 at the Gilcrease Expressway. Expected to open in late Summer 2020, a five mile section of the tolled Gilcrease Expressway runs north to U.S. 64/412 in west Tulsa. 11/02/16
Interstate 244 constitutes a 16.23 mile long urban loop connecting IH 44/SH 66 with Downtown Tulsa. Located entirely within the Tulsa city limits, IH 244 initially angles northeast from IH 44 and the Gilcrease Expressway adjacent to the old route of U.S. 66. U.S. 75 combines with the freeway north from beside the BNSF Cherokee Yard to the Inner Dispersal Loop (unsigned IH 444) just beyond the Arkansas River.
U.S. 75 turns east alongside IH 444 and U.S. 64/SH 51 as U.S. 64/SH 51 accompany IH 244 along the west side of the Tulsa central business district to U.S. 412 at the Sand Springs Expressway. U.S. 64/SH 51 turn west with U.S. 412 to Sand Springs as IH 244 joins U.S. 412 east along the Crosstown Expressway north of Downtown. U.S. 412 overlaps with the remainder of IH 244 east to IH 44/SH 66 beyond 129th E Avenue.
