Texas State Highway 6 South State Loop 340 North
This view looks north along SH 6 & Loop 340 just east of IH 35. Freeway upgrades along the route here included the addition of two flyovers with Interstate 35 which opened in late 2007. Work through 2018 further upgrades the section leading to U.S. 77 from an at-grade arterial into a freeway. 10/23/07
Construction through Fall 2018 removed the intersection with Old Robinson Road (old U.S. 77) in north Robinson. Work on the new overpass for Old Robinson Bridge commenced on June 7, 2017.1 10/23/07
Reassurance markers for SH 6 and Loop 340 just past Old Robinson Road. The loop was built in the late 1950s as a bypass for Waco, and to relieve traffic on US 77 which bore the brunt of regional traffic before IH 35 was built through Waco in 1967. 10/23/07
SH 6 south & SL 340 north at the southbound off-ramp for US 77. US 77 runs southward through Robinson and Cameron and eventually ends up in the Rio Grande Valley. Most of the route is a bucolic, rural two lane highway with very little traffic. 10/23/07

The next exit is for FM 3400 (University Parks Drive) and FM 434. University Parks Drive leads north through Baylor University into Waco's Downtown along the Brazos River. 10/23/07
This Frontage Road exits provides a connection to the nearby Brazos River and rural areas adjacent to the freeway. 10/23/07
Just beyond the Frontage Road off-ramp, these signs indicate the imminent end of the SH 6 freeway section. 10/23/07
Traffic narrows to two lanes along SH 6 south & SL 340 north across the beautiful Brazos River. The Brazos runs through Waco and eventually south into the Gulf at Freeport. 10/23/07
SH 6 resumes heading southward to Houston at the exchange joining SL 340 with SL 484 west. Loop 340 continues northward five miles to IH 35. 10/23/07
