The trumpet interchange at Exit 53B joins the Kansas Turnpike southbound with the freeway along K-96 and 127th Street E. K-96 loops around the north side of Wichita from U.S. 54/400 to I-235.

Exit 53A joins I-35 south with U.S. 54/400 (Kellogg Avenue) westbound directly, 0.75 miles beyond Exit 53B. Kellogg Avenue comprises a freeway west across Wichita to Downtown and Eisenhower National Airport (ICT).

Located at mile marker 52.2, the ramp (Exit 53A) for U.S. 54/400 (Kellogg Avenue) opened to traffic on the morning of February 1, 2021. The exit was the first to implement all electronic tolling (AET) along the Kansas Turnpike.1
