No longer state maintained, Business Loop I-40 in Williams overlays old U.S. 66/89 along a 3.98 mile long course. Beginning at Exit 161, the business route joins Historic U.S. 66 east paralleling a BNSF Railroad line into the Williams street grid. Traffic partitions with eastbound using Route 66 and westbound following Railroad Avenue across the city.
Passing north of High School Hill, Business Loop I-40 spans the BNSF Railroad south of the Grand Canyon Railway. A second BNSF Railroad line crosses over Historic U.S. 66 ahead of the diamond interchange returning the business route to I-40 at SR 64. An abandoned section of old U.S. 66/89 lies south of the exchange where a two-wye intersection formerly linked the two highways with SR 64.
Business Loop I-40 (Old U.S. 66/89) make an S-curve across the BNSF Railroad east from the Williams street grid.
