A $79 million project underway from Fall 2014 to December 1, 2016 replaced both Missouri River bridges for U.S. 69 with a new four lane span and pedestrian walkway. The original Fairfax Bridge opened in 1933 and carried southbound traffic while the adjacent northbound Platte Purchase Bridge was completed in 1957. Both spans were demolished.1
