U.S. 151 Wis 42 Business North
Just east of Interstate 43, U.S. 151 (Calumet Avenue) intersects Rapids Road. This was the southern terminus of County R until Manitowoc took over complete jurisdiction of the road up to Custer Street. North of Custer Street, County R follows former US 141 and ends at US 141 near Bellevue. 02/26/16
Business 42 follows US 151 until US 10, where it turns north and end where it meets Wis 42. 02/26/16
Dewey Street stems east from Rapids Road to intersect U.S. 151 & Wis 42 Business (Calumet Avenue) at the next northbound signal. Dewey Street skirts the industrial area of Manitowoc while the west end underwent extensive commercial development. 02/26/16
Signs direct motorists northward along U.S. 151 to the Lake Michigan car ferry. 02/26/16
U.S. 151/Wis 42 Business continue as a five lane commercial arterial. Reassurance shields precede the signal at 35th Street in this scene. 02/26/16
The commercial stretch along Calumet Avenue concludes as U.S. 151/Wis 42 Business curve onto Custer Street beyond the signal at Marshall Street. 02/26/16
U.S. 151 was realigned in 1999 for a more direct route to Washington Street. The US highway previously turned left onto 26th Street north for a block, then turned right onto Washington Street east. 02/26/16
Traveling east along Washington Street, U.S. 151 descends toward Downtown Manitowoc. The old Mirro Cookware plant in the distance is in the process of being razed. 02/26/16
The second to last reassurance marker for U.S. 151 north appears at 13th Street. 02/26/16
The final shield assembly for U.S. 151 precedes the intersection with U.S. 10 at 11th Street. 02/26/16
U.S. 10 utilizes a one way street couplet through Downtown Manitowoc. The eastbound direction follows 10th Street south to Madison Street. The route east ends in Wisconsin at the ferry terminal linking Manitowoc with Ludington, Michigan. 02/26/16
An end sign for U.S. 151 precedes the Washington Street intersection with U.S. 10 (8th Street) west. 8th Street takes U.S. 10 west from Madison Street to Wis 42 (Waldo Boulevard). 02/26/16
Wis 42 Business turns north alongside U.S. 10 west to Waldo Street. Washington Street concludes in one block at 7th Street. The Budweiser mural was in danger of disappearing as a new company owns the malt plant. People in the community lobbied city hall to allow the new owners to keep the mural up, and city hall agreed as long as people in Manitowoc would maintain it. 02/26/16
