Guide signs along I-40/U.S. 93 west for Exit 53 prior to the removal of Business Loop I-40 from Kingman. 10/25/03

Measuring 4.08 miles in length, Business Loop I-40 followed Beale Street east onto Andy Devine Avenue, which carried the remainder of the loop northeast through Kingman. SR 66 overlays the easternmost segment of the former business route, between Michael Street and the parclo interchange with I-40/U.S. 93.

The Kingman business loop from Interstate 40 was a state maintained facility until July 2002, when maintenance was transferred to the city of Kingman. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) formally requested the removal of Business Loop I-40 from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), citing:

This segment of highway is currently carrying both "Historic Route 66" and "Business 40" designation. A single route designation will provide clear understanding for travelers and eliminate confusion caused by two route numbers for the same segment of highway.
AASHTO approved the change on May 31, 2003.

The original route of U.S. 66 through Downtown Kingman followed all of Beale Street, which parallels Andy Devine Avenue one block to the north. Beale Street along what was Business Loop I-40 was formerly also part of U.S. 93. U.S. 93 was not formally removed from an overlap with Historic U.S. 66 through Kingman until action by AASHTO on November 16, 2012.
