Replaced overheads for the directional cloverleaf interchange with Interstate 64 (Exits 53A/B), posted one half mile out from the freeway end. All traffic continues to be shunted to the right ahead of the ramps to Interstate 64. Originally Interstate 295 was to connect with the southwest bypass of Richmond (Virginia 288). Plans later shifted to a new alignment further west, resulting in the abandonment of the freeway stubs at Interstate 64/295. The southbound stub was removed during the flyover project of 2006-09.
