Started off this week's sitework with a long overdue update for Interstate 210 at Lake Charles, Louisiana. Drove 618 miles across Florida yesterday, covering ground from Orlando north to Daytona Beach and Jacksonville. Looked at progress on the I-4 Ultimate megaproject, which extends northward from SR 435 (Kirkman Road) by Universal Orlando to SR 434 near Longwood. Wekiva Parkway construction is fully underway all on remaining sections in Lake and Seminole Counties. Upon completion, the 25 mile long toll road will provide part of a seamless beltway encircling Orlando, connecting with SR 429 along the John Land Expressway southward and with SR 417 along the Seminole Expressway eastward. Texas continues to expand the Interstate system, with a number of additions to the IH 69 corridor at the Rio Grande Valley, South Texas, and the Houston area. Nearly one year removed from the first ever Delaware Road Meet, I am finally getting around to updating the Delaware pages on the site with content from last December. Interstate 895, the Sheridan Expressway in the Bronx, New York, is the latest urban freeway set for removal. Plans to convert the freeway to an at-grade boulevard date back at least to 2011, with formal approval by various agencies in 2017.
